Accounting Assistant - Full Time

Summary:

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for full cycle accounts payable and accounting support of day-to-day accounting processes.  The successful candidate will have prior accounting experience, be detail-oriented, drive efficiencies and process improvements, and work with a variety of internal departments and external vendors.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Print and code vendor invoices (both inventory and non-inventory related)
  • Process and enter weekly vendor invoices 
  • Manage the accounts payable inbox 
  • Maintain timely and courteous communication with external and internal vendors/departments
  • Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
  • Answer vendor inquiries
  • Create purchase orders as requested by internal teams
  • Maintain accounts payable files
  • Reconcile monthly credit card statements 
  • Update and maintain vendor database
  • Assist with accounting projects and conduct associated research
  • Ensure compliance with company policies on vendor payments
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role

  • Able to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner
  • Customer focused approach
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Eye for detail, accuracy is imperative
  • Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative
  • Must be detail-oriented with an emphasis on accurate record-keeping.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience may substitute for degree requirements.
  • One or more years of experience in Accounts Payable or Accounting, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel in particular) and accounting software preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally (e.g., files, office supplies).
  • Repetitive hand and wrist movements (typing and data entry).

Pay range:
$30-$35 per hour
